For the second time since the adoption of 2250 in 2015, the UN Peacebuilding Commission approached two young peacebuilders in July 2019, among which was Khaled Emam, to brief the Commission on the current state of play with the youth, peace and security (YPS) agenda. This invitation was a significant step by the commission and meant to ensure its continued ownership of the YPS. It is also rare for member states of the Commission to directly hear from young peacebuilders which is why we were very honored to get the opportunity to directly engage with the PBC. Regrettably however, the briefing was cancelled due to political issues.
