September 26, 2024 – Kampala, Uganda
In light of UN Security Council Resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace, and Security, and its subsequent resolutions, member states and UN bodies are actively promoting the inclusive participation of youth in peacebuilding. In this spirit, the Center for Conflict Resolution (CECORE), along with GPPAC Eastern and Eastern Africa, hosted a workshop titled “Realizing the Youth, Peace, and Security Agenda: Lessons from the Middle East.”
The event featured Khaled Emam, Executive Director of Justice Call and a specialist in Youth, Peace, and Security from the MENA region. The workshop aimed to foster dialogue between youth leaders from Uganda, the Middle East, and North Africa (MENA), creating a platform for sharing experiences, knowledge, and lessons learned from their peacebuilding efforts.
The workshop’s objectives included enhancing understanding of conflict dynamics, promoting successful peacebuilding practices, and building collaborative networks among participants. Youth representatives from various organizations engaged in discussions around shared challenges and strategies, learning from each other’s regional contexts to navigate the complexities of peacebuilding.
The event was held at CECORE’s office in Kampala, providing a vital opportunity to strengthen partnerships and raise awareness of youth-led peace efforts across regions.
