September 19, 2024 – New York, NY
On September 19, 2024, the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) and Justice Call hosted an informal, off-the-record dialogue in New York to discuss GPPAC’s vision for the upcoming 2025 Peacebuilding Architecture Review (PBAR). The event brought together peacebuilders and stakeholders to reflect on progress, challenges, and opportunities in the implementation of peacebuilding and sustaining peace, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
As the Ministerial Meeting of the Peacebuilding Commission approached on September 26, 2024, the dialogue centered on identifying local peacebuilding priorities, examining both the rationale (‘why’) and the methodology (‘how’) for advancing peace efforts. Participants engaged in an open discussion that emphasized regional challenges and strategies for sustaining peace.
The event provided a platform for GPPAC to share its vision, reflected through the peacebuilding priorities in the MENA region, and featured a Q&A session with representatives from Justice Call, facilitating deeper engagement and collaboration.
The dialogue underscored the importance of incorporating local perspectives and strategies into the broader peacebuilding agenda, ahead of the formal discussions set for 2025.
